Founded in 1826 by Samuel Lord and George Washington Taylor, the brand is a part of the oldest commercial company North America, the Hudson's Bay Company. Starting out by selling shawls and hosiery, Lord & Taylor's popularity and offering grew until it opened its flagship store on Fifth Avenue.
