Cotton is one of the most popular fabrics, and there are many different types of cotton fabric. We suggest checking the care instructions for the specific item before washing. Cotton can sometimes be prone to shrinking when it is washed and dried, and to prevent this happening it is recommended to use water that is 30°C or below, either by hand or in the washing machine. Colored cotton garments should be turned inside out before washing. Allow to air dry naturally, and give garments a gentle stretch to restore shapes as soon as they come out of the wash.

Washing inside out in cold water with a mild detergent is advised. However, we would always recommend following the specific instructions on the care label that is stitched into every garment. It is worth noting that before denim is washed, the dye from your indigo pieces may rub off on light-colored fabric, leather and upholstery. To make colour last longer, wash inside out with cold water, with like colours. Denim should not be left in direct sunlight, as this can cause discoloration. Avoid using a tumble dryer, instead hang your garment indoors to air dry naturally.

A natural alternative to synthetic materials, linen will keep you cool during spells of hot weather. It typically doesn’t need to be dry cleaned, and the material can be usually be hand washed or machine washed. Regular laundering will lead to softer garements over time. Typically, linen can be washed in lukewarm or cold water, on a gentle machine cycle and with a mild detergent is best at protecting the material’s fibres. This will help prevent colour fade. Avoid using bleach and fabric softener on linen, and never wring the fabric after hand washing. Linen tends to be fast drying, so lay flat and leave to air dry naturally. Store your linen garments in a cool, dry place, and avoid wrapping them in plastic.
