A protégé of Rei Kawakubo, Junya Watanabe continued his allegiance to the Comme des Garçons family when he launched his own eponymous label in 1992. Branded 'techno-couture,' the avant-garde spirit continues with the label's designs, defined by the deconstructed silhouettes, juxtaposition of fabrics and bold and playful finishes. This innovative attitude can be seen in the label's cardigans through the patchwork knits comprising slashes of sequin, lace and wool, asymmetric silhouettes finished with metal hardware and striking cut-out panels.
