Mackintosh
In Glasgow in 1823, Charles Macintosh invented a waterproof fabric that was smart enough to wear in the city. His invention achieved such popularity that today Macintosh’s surname is often used as a generic term for any raincoat, although those by the Mackintosh label are the true originals. Starting out as the coat of choice for riding horses in the rain, the Mackintosh became the British Army's go-to outercoat through two world wars. It is now a mark of traditional British outerwear.
Mackintosh collections today are stylish and practical for changeable climates. The contemporary line is simple and sophisticated, made to retain tradition and repel the weather whilst maintaining timeless style.
