All sterling silver will tarnish over time, but this can happen much faster when it comes into contact with agents such as perfume, salty air, sulphur, skin creams, hairspray, chlorine and acidic skin PH. The amount of tarnishing (oxidisation) that occurs is dependant on the skin and care habits of the wearer. Tarnishing is therefore not a manufacturing fault. Tarnishing, however is not a problem and can be easily resolved by using a microfiber polishing cloth to clean your silver jewellery. We also recommend that you do not wear your jewellery whilst bathing, whilst in bed or during sporting activities. To prevent misshaping, store your jewellery carefully after wear. To refresh the lustre of your gold jewellery, simply mix some non-toxic soap into a bowl of warm water, dip your jewellery into and then proceed to gently scrub the pieces using a soft brush. Wash it off with clean water, and let is dry completely before wearing or storing it. The process of plating is when a layer of gold is placed onto the surface of another metal. Oil, sweat, nail polish, perfume and chlorine can all react with the plated jewellery causing it to tarnish. Use a soft jewellery cloth NOT a polishing cloth as this could conflict with the plating. When storing your gold plated jewellery, to avoid scratches, wrap it in a soft cloth after cleaning or keep in a jewellery box not touching other jewellery.
