Before attempting to clean wool, we would always recommend checking the garment’s care label to ensure the cleaning method you plan to use will not cause shrinkage. If your wool item is structured, such as a blazer, suit, or coat, then we recommend to spot clean. Some wool is suitable for machine washing, once it has been turned inside out and put on a 30°C gentle cycle. To reduce the risk of shrinkage, soak your wool item in cold water before machine washing. Dry naturally away from heat and strong direct sunlight. Ensure wool garments are clean before storing folded in a cool, dark place.
To prolong the original condition of your product, we recommend cleaning the leather with a dry soft cloth and specialist cleaner. Nothing can completely prevent scratches, scuffs and damage to leather, but a good leather protector will help. A specialist leather wax and cream can be applied to bring back shine when needed.
As cotton lacks natural anti-bacterial and odor-resistant properties, it requires more frequent washing. When it comes to cleaning cotton and cotton-blend materials, it is recommended to use a lower temperature wash at 30°C or below. This will help avoid colour fading and dye transfer. Cotton pieces can then be gently stretched to restore the original shape. Air dry cotton naturally.
Fur that has been cared for will last for years, and we would advise getting it properly cleaned yearly by a professional. However, there are also steps that you can take to help maintain the fur. If the fur gets slightly wet; shake out to remove as much water as possible. Allow to dry in a well-ventilated room, away from any direct heat. Once dry, fluff the fur and smooth with your hand. To maintain the finish, you can steam to remove wrinkles, odor and bacteria. Avoid ironing as this will burn the fur. Brush regularly with a cashmere brush, which will remove any lint and hair, as well as rejuvenating the fur’s natural oils. When storing your fur, it is recommended to keep it at a temperature of around 50°C with approximate 50% humidity. Store in a breathable cotton bag, on a broad-shouldered hanger and away from light.
