Before attempting to clean cotton, we would advise always checking the label to ensure no specific care instructions are required. When it comes to cleaning cotton and cotton-blend materials, it is recommended to use a lower temperature wash at 30°C or below. This will help avoid colour fading and dye transfer. Allow to air dry naturally, and give garments a gentle stretch to restore shapes as soon as they come out of the wash.
Lace is a beautiful but delicate material, so it is best to check how to clean and care for it correctly in order to extend the life of your garment. If your lace becomes stained, it will need to be cleaned quickly as stains can stick to the lace fibres permanently if left untreated for too long. We advise hand washing your lace garment in warm water, unless specified on the item’s care label. Let the lace soak for roughly 30 minutes, before rinsing with water to wash away any remaining soap. Use a gentle plunging action to remove dirt and stains, and avoid rubbing. Never wring or twist lace fabric. Lay flat and allow to dry naturally. If you really need to clean lace in the washing machine, always place lace within a cotton wash bag and use a gentle and cool wash cycle.
Few fabrics feel as luxurious as silk, and in order to keep it in its original condition for longer, we recommend carefully following the care instructions found on each individual item’s label. If your silk is not dry clean only, then it can be hand washed in lukewarm water with a delicate detergent. If your silk is suitable for hand washing, use lukewarm water and a specific, mild detergent to help protect the silk’s natural properties. Turn the item inside out, and soak for up to 30 minutes, then rinse with cool water to remove any remaining soap. Avoid putting in the tumble dryer and instead lay flat to dry naturally. If you need to clean in the machine, first place in a laundry bag, select a delicate, cold-water cycle and remove promptly once the cycle has finished to reduce wrinkles. If the care label on your silk item says that it can be ironed, then use a low iron setting and ideally iron while it is still slightly damp.
