Herno delivers a wide range of Winter outerwear for every situation. Whether you prefer simple and easy-to-wear options like the single-breasted overcoat, long coats that look equally good dressed up or down, or more casual options like a parka or duffle, you’ll find a style to suit in this collection.
Herno's outerwear is generally built from materials such as wool, fur trims, cotton and lightweight synthetic blends, making it easier to survive low temperatures or rainy days in high style. For an ever-reliable combination, layer yours over dark denim or tailoring.
Wool is a soft, natural fibre that can be prone to shrinking if not cared for properly. To keep your wool garment looking its original best, we recommend checking the instructions on each individual care label. Most wool is washable, with the main exception of structured pieces like suits, jackets and blazers, which are best spot cleaned. Some wool is suitable for machine washing, once it has been turned inside out and put on a 30°C gentle cycle. To minimize the risk of shrinkage, it is advised to soak in cold water before you put in the machine. Dry naturally away from heat and strong direct sunlight. Hang structured wool, such as jackets and suits, to dry on hangers.
High-quality pieces that are made from leather require a little care and maintenance to keep them looking their best. Remove dirt and dust by brushing with a soft, dry brush, and apply special care products to remove any stubborn stains. Nothing can completely prevent scratches, scuffs and damage to leather, but a good leather protector will help. Use a waterproofing spray to protect against liquid stains, and apply specialist leather waxes and creams to bring back the shine when needed.
Whether your garment is cotton or cotton-blend, there is the possibility that it may shrink if not properly cared for. When it comes to cleaning cotton and cotton-blend materials, it is recommended to use a lower temperature wash at 30°C or below. This will help avoid colour fading and dye transfer. Cotton pieces can then be gently stretched to restore the original shape. Air dry cotton naturally.
Fur that has been cared for will last for years, and we would advise getting it properly cleaned yearly by a professional. However, there are also steps that you can take to help maintain the fur. If the fur gets slightly wet; shake out to remove as much water as possible. Allow to dry in a well-ventilated room, away from any direct heat. Once dry, fluff the fur and smooth with your hand. Do not iron fur, as it may burn and cause irreparable damage.Instead, steam the fur to remove any bacteria, wrinkles and odor.Brush regularly with a cashmere brush, which will remove any lint and hair, as well as rejuvenating the fur’s natural oils. When storing your fur, it is recommended to keep it at a temperature of around 50°C with approximate 50% humidity. Store in a breathable cotton bag, on a broad-shouldered hanger and away from light.
