Otherwise, most wool can be either hand washed, or washed in the machine on a gentle cycle of 30°C or less, using a mild PH neutral detergent and turned inside out first. To reduce the risk of shrinkage, soak your wool item in cold water before machine washing. Never tumble dry wool, instead dry flat away from direct heat or sunlight. Most wool knitwear, no matter how good the quality, is prone to pilling. Gently pass a pilling comb over the fibres to remove any of the bobbles.
