As cotton lacks natural anti-bacterial and odor-resistant properties, it requires more frequent washing. Generally, cotton should be hand or machine washed at 30°C or below. Colored cotton garments should be turned inside out before washing. Allow to air dry naturally.
Lace is a beautiful yet delicate fabric, and will need to be cleaned properly to prolong its life. If your lace becomes stained, it will need to be cleaned quickly as stains can stick to the lace fibres permanently if left untreated for too long. Handwashing is generally considered the safest way to treat lace, and it is recommended to submerge in a warm water and mild detergent mix. Massage the soapy water into the lace and leave to soak for around 30 minutes. Use a gentle plunging action to remove dirt and stains, and avoid rubbing. Never wring or twist lace fabric. Lay the lace flat to dry, away from direct heat and sunlight. If you do decide to clean lace in the washing machine using a gentle wash cycle, it is advised to first place it in a laundry bag to protect it from getting damaged.
Few fabrics feel as luxurious as silk, and in order to keep it in its original condition for longer, we recommend carefully following the care instructions found on each individual item’s label. Some silk is ‘Dry Clean Only’, while other items may have ‘Dry Clean’ as the recommended cleaning method, but other methods may be used. If your silk is suitable for hand washing, use lukewarm water and a specific, mild detergent to help protect the silk’s natural properties. Turn the item inside out, and soak for up to 30 minutes, then rinse with cool water to remove any remaining soap. Avoid putting in the tumble dryer and instead lay flat to dry naturally. If you must wash in the machine, select a gentle, cold-water cycle, place in a laundry bag for additional protection and promptly remove from the washer to reduce any wrinkles. If the care label on your silk item says that it can be ironed, then use a low iron setting and ideally iron while it is still slightly damp.
