The X-Alp Expedition sneaker from Salomon doesn’t get the credit it deserves. When it first launched over a decade ago, it was made with an Edging Chassis — a technology that flexes front to back rather than side to side. Handy when you’re standing on the edge of a cliff. This season, it goes back to its heritage hiking roots with a subtly weathered upper, classic rope style laces and a rubber mudguard that has a distinctly vintage look.
