Maison Kitsuné was originally founded as a record label in 2002 by Gildas Loaëc, the then artistic director of Daft Punk and Masaya Kuroki, an architect. The Parisian pair branched out into clothing in 2005, re-working American preppy classics and wardrobe basics, from varsity jackets, printed T-shirts and patterned shirts sporty to slim-fit tailoring. The designer said of the collection, 'Kitsuné is a unique concept of trendy and modern luxury intermingling fashion and music.' Taking its name from the Japanese word for 'fox,' its collections are inspired by the simplicity of Japanese culture mixed with cool Parisian styling. The brand's collection of trainers focus on simple, low-top canvas trainers that embody the label's understated style.
