How To Care For Your Fjallraven Jacket

All Fjallraven jackets come with washing and care instructions to help you increase their durability and longevity:

• Do not dry clean.

• Hand wash.

• Do not bleach.

• Do not tumble dry.

• Iron at 110° c max.

How do I wax my Fjallraven jacket, and is it waterproof?

You’ll need some Greenland Wax, which is a blend of beeswax and paraffin. Greenland Wax gives your jacket extra water resistance, not waterproofness. To wax, take a block of Greenland Wax and rub it on the fabric using long strokes, leaving a thin layer of wax on the material. Using an iron or hair dryer, melt the wax evenly into the fabric. Repeat the process to make the fabric extra durable.

What materials does Fjallraven use to make its jackets?

Their core materials are natural: wool, cotton, and down. Also, Fjallraven uses synthetic materials such as G-1000 and eco-shell, often developed in-house. These are durable fabrics but have a minimal impact on the environment. Fjallraven wool is primarily sourced from Sweden and also Italy, and Fjallraven down is 100% traceable and sustainable.

G-1000 is a hardwearing fabric that's protected with Greenland Wax for extra durability. It's a densely woven, ventilating, and wind-resistant fabric made from 65% polyester and 35% cotton. Some Fjallraven jackets are made with eco versions of G-1000.

What does Fjallraven mean?

Originating from the small Swedish town of Örnsköldsvik, the brand is named after the arctic fox. It’s a reflection of Fjallraven’s commitment to nature, the environment, and sustainability. They follow through on that with The Arctic Fox Initiative that supports projects that protect the environment.
